Stringing cranberries is a fabulous fine motor skill and a good precursor to sewing. Preschoolers just love it!
*Use a large blunt needle (use the metal ones, the plastic ones pretty much suck)
*use heavy duty thread or two strands of embroidery floss, or even regular dental floss
*show the child how to string the cranberries
(I always tape one end to the table to prevent any berries from sliding off)
*for young children they may hand you the berries and you help them string them hand-over-hand (your hand guides theirs)
This can be tied up and hung on a fence, tree, etc. and shared with the birds and squirrels!
You could also string dried bread chunks, popcorn, etc!
