Okay, so I am not TOTALLY against storing objects in baskets. Sometimes I do it on purpose. When Q was about 6 months old, her favorite thing in the whole world was her "Thingy Basket." It was filled with all sorts of random objects for her to explore--baby food jars filled with rice. Dish brush. Keys. Sunglasses. A tiny board book. An oatmeal box with some pennies inside. A necklace. She would sit and explore that thing for hours. (thinking back....it was AMAZING. I didn't know how good I had it.) Here she is, chilling with my dad and playing with her "Thingy Basket."
Sometimes she even got IN the thingy basket. :)
And here are some books stored in a basket. But note the intentionality of it. I didn't just grab up a handful of books and toss them in there for storage. I chose 4-5 books that were at Q's current level. Sometimes they were books that went with our "theme" or just books she was particularly enjoying.
