Here's what else I have in my purse for some spur of the moment learning....a color deck! Free, courtesy of Lowe's. In the Behr paint samples they have large cards wil holes already punched and they provide the little rings. I chose the main colors we are practicing with Q right now--red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and black.
For older kids who already know the main colors, try adding grey, maroon, turquoise, etc.
If you can't find the Behr pre-punched cards, just get regular paint samples and punch holes and use a bread twisty or some string to tie them together.
I also like to use paint chips to make a matching game for toddlers and preschoolers. If you want to make it trickier, use varying shades of one color--for example, six different shades of green (you will need two of each shade to do the matching game).
Yea for paint sections at the home improvement store!!!
